So, it’s been as cold as the proverbial witch’s tit for the past few days and today it’s actually warm enough to make me want to go outside but rainy enough to keep me from it. Maine. *sigh* Winter with its dark hours and gray days has been influencing my listening habits already.

For those who care, the Wintermix09 seasonal comp will be complete by New Years so check in and download if you like. I just wanted to show some love here for some stuff that may not show up on the comp that has been keeping my neurons all warm and tingly through the early winter bluster.

Portland’s little secret, Jen “Popgirl 23″ Barnes is the wellspring from which the ripest tunes in our humble port town flows. She is one of the area’s most well-known and respected house dj’s. She should be, she’s only been at it for 12+ years now. This past year or 2 has seen Jen laying relatively low, but she has continued to put together spotless mixes that range from thoughtful and introspective to out & out stompers. She was awarded Best House Dj at this year’s 2008 We Push Buttons Awards. If you don’t already know what’s up, click above and get with it.

Fall is here!

And with it a new compilation of tunes to help you get through that long drive into winter. Not a mix with any blending skills to flex or obscure, ultra-rare, only released overseas b-sides to show off, just some shit I been diggin on now and in past falls back in the day. A little mood music. Something to take the edge off. Or to get your freak ON.. Whatever you use it for, it’s all good. Just don’t use it all baby, awww shit. Wow I’m retarded.

I’ve put the mix up on the site for your downloading pleasure. You should see a box in the right column that says Fallmix 07 on it. It contains 3 archives, click to download each one. A dialog box will open, select Save to Disk. After you have saved all three, just unzip and extract the info by right-clicking on one of them and selecting the unzip option in the dropdown menu. The files will unpack leaving you the folder containing the tunes listed below as well as a playlist file. It should be that easy. If you have any problems, please contact me.

If you’d like me to just send you a hardcopy, hit me up with your address at emajik@verizon.net and I’ll mail it off sometime this month, I promise.
