Bike

Well it’s been a few months now and I gotta say, I really like cruisin around on the 2 wheeler. I mean I really Old School like it, way more than I imagined.

Though one could argue that there is a gearhead at the core of every guy, I never felt like that. I like cars and motorcycles but don’t know too much about them one from the other. Scooters looked really fun. I always wanted one to buzz around on in the summer for shits. So when the opportunity arose and I had the loot, I took advantage.

I had never owned a motorbike before and I may have driven a dirtbike when I was young maybe twice. I was pretty apprehensive once I got it to get out into traffic with it. I felt exposed, endangered. Like anything though, it becomes second nature after a while. I’m still very focused and alert on the bike, probably more than when I’m in my car. Now when I get up to go to work and hop on the bike, no matter how tired or stressed I am about my day it brings a smile to my face.

I have been taking rides here and then lately for the sole purpose of airing my head out, chilling out. I used to love that before gas became such a precious commodity. At 100 mpg, I suppose I can afford a ride whenever I want now. Safe to say, now I get it, the whole bike obsession. I get it. And I’m already addicted.

An extended cruise around last night confirmed what I’d been thinking after my first couple of trips out on the Ruckus:

I need a bigger bike.

This little guy is fun and looks cool as shit but it’s not really super comfortable for trips longer than 20-30 minutes. I can’t go a lot of places I’d like to without riding the ditch. So I’m already looking ahead to see what’s next. So many choices.. I also have to take a motorcycle license course. Anyone have any recommendations?

Good to hear that you are enjoying the ruckus so much. At least you seem to have the time and opportunity to do so that I alas did not.

Weeeeelllllll, if you ever want to sell it, I get first dibs! I don’t care about going fast, I just want to get where I’m going and not pay a shitload for gas!
