A loose confederation of online troublemakers who call themselves Anonymous have declared war on the Church of Scientology by flooding its servers with fake data requests, describing the attacks as punishment for the Church’s alleged abuse of copyright laws and alleged brainwashing of its members…

Loose? Hardly. Troublemakers? I wouldn’t say so. The cause is quite valid.
Sorry, I put up a quick quote from the article I first read about the story and have since done a little more homework. I posted a few links here for others to follow to their own conclusion, but I didn’t really say how I felt about the whole ordeal did I?
I am all for it.
Not about the illegal net terrorist activities so much (though I must admit, huge lulz!), but I’m glad someone is standing up to these bastards.
I’m not so sure about the cohesiveness of Anonymous. I mean the CoS is a serious group of people that are going to fight back. I certainly hope the group has a unified mission and plan because without some sort of concerted effort they may get disbanded in a hurry.
I believe in the right to protest and the right to speak out and spread the truth when something is clearly wrong. The Church of Scientology deserves every bit of what they have coming.
Anonymous is moderately organised. It’s a very large group, though, so sometimes things can get out of control. This whole thing started off as a joke. If you saw the original thread proposing this idea you’d know that not all Anonymous even approve of this plan. Overall, Anon recognises that it won’t actually destroy the Church- the plan is to get its tax-exempt status removed, and to increase public awareness of some of its more underhanded activities.
oh snap! I just posted something similar to this on your myspace. anyhoo did you folks catch the Fox Propaganda story about Anonymous? I thought it was freakin hillarious…
